GridConnect is live!

February 3, 2025

With the new GridConnect feature in the dvlp web-GIS, we aim to improve networking between developers and operators. The goal is to facilitate the joint planning of new grid connection points and optimize the use of existing ones.

This is achieved through a two-stage approval process: Developers and/or operators can indicate whether they are looking for a grid connection or have one available for their projects. dvlp checks whether other developers/operators within a 20 km radius have made similar entries in GridConnect. If both parties express interest, dvlp establishes the contact.

As a next step, a collaboration agreement or similar arrangement can be made, allowing the projects to be successfully implemented.

In the first step, developers or operators release selected projects for grid connection matchmaking and provide the following information:

  • Connection status – is a connection point available, or is one being demanded? (vorhanden, gesucht)
  • Technology – For which technology? (e.g., PV, Wind)
  • Capacity – How many MW are still available or being demanded? (e.g., <20 MW, 20-50 MW)
  • Comment – Additional information that could help a potential partner decide whether to establish contact.

In the second step, all parties receive a results report for each project participating in GridConnect. This report contains basic, anonymized information about other GridConnect projects located within a 20 km radius of their own project.

The report includes only the details provided in the GridConnect tab for their own projects, specifically:

  • Technology
  • Connection status
  • Capacity
  • Comment

Additionally, the report provides a distance indication in 5 km increments, but exact locations are not shared.

In the third step, if both parties express mutual interest based on the anonymized results reports, contact is established between them.
